Wilson: “We tried to match Sordo, but conditions changed fast”

M-Sport’s Malcolm Wilson admitted Ford tried to emulate Dani Sordo’s tyre choice for first two stages today and also considered information from multiple gravel crews but even that was not enough to predict what the conditions will be on stages.

“We got information from our gravel crews and we were looking at what others are doing, but it wasn’t an easy choice. We even had a talk with Petter before he left the service and after taking everything into account we made a call with tyres. As it turned out, conditions changed rapidly and Petter was not on the optimal set. It’s Monte Carlo, we expected it and we must handle it”, Wilson said during service break after SS 12.
