Aand I’m back… And Magahales is out

Emergency trip to vet clinic delayed some news here on WRB but I’m back behind the whe… umm, keyboard and will try to catch up with the latest developments. With day 2 of Sata Rallye Açores still under way probably biggest news is Bruno Magalhaes crash, which ended local hero’s hopes of catching the leading trio.

Crash happened on special stage six while Magalhaes was in hot pursuit of Bryan Bouffier in a bid to secure place on a podium. Both Bruno and co-driver Carlos Magalhaes were unhurt in the incident which happened on second re-run of Feteiras stage. Bouffier reportedly also lost time when marshals tried to slow him down at the spot of Magalhaes’ accident, but he still in control of final podium position.

In the meantime special stage 8 was cancelled due to heavy rain and final stage of the day, SS 9, will be shortened and is about to start in next few minutes.

With one stage to go Andreas Mikkelsen is in the lead with little over 15 seconds advantage over Juho Hanninen. Third place is still in Bouffier’s possesion and Magalhaes’ exit promoted Sepp Wiegand to fourth spot, but he is being pushed by german talent Hermann Gassner Jr.
