Prodrive MINIs to compete in New Zealand, Germany and GB

The Prodrive WRC Team has confirmed that its next three events in the World Rally Championship will be New Zealand, Germany and Rally GB in Wales.

Prodrive will run a MINI John Cooper Works WRC for Dani Sordo and are talking to a number of drivers who might join the team in a second car. The team will compete in further eventslater in the season.

“We looked at the events we thought would be our most competitive and which gave an even spread throughout the year,” said Dave Wilcock, team principal. “After our pace on tarmac last year and Dani’s podiums and near win in France, Germany was an obvious choice. Rally GB is clearly our home event, while after the performance of the new car on the gravel of Portugal, we felt New Zealand should give us a further opportunity to demonstrate that we have the pace to win on loose surfaces.”

For all the forthcoming events the Prodrive MINI WRCs will run in the latest specification, the same that brought Sordo six stage wins at Rally Portugal. The latest upgrades will also be made available to all other factory-supported MINIs.

Prior to Rally New Zealand, Sordo will be competing at the Tour de Corse in May in a Drive-Pro MINI Super Production Car run by SMG Motorsport.
