Update from Marcus Grönholm’s team

Marcus Grönholm is making good progress towards full recovery from the accident that happened during X Games round of Global RallyCross in Saturday. According to the latest statement, Finnish driver is still being closely supervised and despite the fact he is feeling better and is alert, some of the injuries will require further treatment.

STATEMENT #2

Los Angeles, CA, Monday July 2, 2012, 1400hrs PDT local/2300hrs CET. After two days of medical attention and rest, Marcus Grönholm is making good progress in hospital following his accident sustained during the X Games GRC seeding round on Saturday in Los Angeles.

Marcus is alert and talking and his doctors have confirmed that the early start to his recovery after his admittance to hospital on Saturday has continued with another positive update on his condition earlier this morning.

Following the accident, Marcus was for a period unconscious and accordingly one area of medical focus has been to monitor for any repercussions from this injury. Other precautionary checks including a full body scan and related tests confirm that Marcus has full limb mobility, but a bone compression which requires treatment. Consistent with this type of accident, Marcus sustained a number of other injuries that have also improved since his admittance. Accordingly, Marcus will remain in hospital under medical supervision to continue his recuperation.
