Former world rally champion Petter Solberg is jumping into rallycross battlefield, as we all know. The plan to compete in FIA’s european series was confirmed today, with short story appearing on championship’s official website.
Solberg will compete in a Citroën DS3 built by his own team. Norwegian contested 2012 WRC season with Ford as a factory driver, but when Ford officially withdrew from the championship, Solberg was left with very few options, neither of which would interest him.
It seems he did find rallycross interesting enough, though. No surprise, because Mr. Hollywood started his career as dirt-tarmac track specialist.
“I don’t do things by half. When I thought about it, I knew the RX Championship was the one for me,” said Solberg (38). “IMG knows how to make the show. We have five rounds of this year’s championship being shown live on television.
“And when three of those five live rounds are in Norway, Sweden and Finland it makes complete sense for me to be competing here,” said Solberg.
