In auction: Markko Märtin’s winning Focus WRC

In 2004 Markko Märtin and Michael Park scored two WRC wins in Corsica and Catalunya together with numerous top 10 finishes in that same year and in 2005. Their car, Ford Focus WRC sporting a Castrol livery. At the end of 2005 car was sold to Vodka Kick founder Steve Perez, who then took it to national level rallying in the UK. According to Silverstone Auction’s press release car was fully rebuilt at the end of last year (rebuild valued at 50.000 GBP, they say) and is now back to its original 2005 WRC spec. Estimated value: 180.000 to 200.000 GBP.

“This is a unique opportunity to acquire one of these cars. M-Sport rarely sold their WRC rally winning cars and so this is a wonderful chance to purchase a piece of motorsport history with impeccable provenance.”, said Nick Whale, managing director of Silverstone Auctions.

Together with 1975 Datsun 260Z in full Safari Rally outfit this Focus will star at the Race Retro auction on February 22. More info on www.silverstoneauctions.com.
