Toyota unveils their motor sport livery, WRC included

Toyota today took the wraps off their 2016 motor sport programme, which, as we know, also includes the World Rally Championship. That is, more or less, all, because at this point Toyota obviously isn’t ready to share more information about this particular project. It’s in Tommi Mäkinen’s hands, his team will co-operate with TMG’s HQ in Cologne, and apparently Mikko Hirvonen will carry out testing and development duties this year. Oh, and also Toyota’s boss would not mind hiring Petter Solberg or Sebastien Loeb. In the end, Tommi will have to do everything – bossing, driving, cooking? None of this made it to Toyota’s official release – they’ll probably say more when they have more. For now, all we got is a photo of Yaris WRC in this year’s livery. That and this, final paragraph of Toyota’s release:

A new logo for Toyota Gazoo Racing was also announced today, together with a unified black, white and red colour scheme that will be featured on all Toyota vehicles that race in the WRC, WEC, the Nürburgring 24 Hours endurance race, and the Japanese Rally Championship.

Hey, I am well aware this does not mean they will race in WRC this year, because they won’t. But, maybe it means they will race in WRC this year, huh?

More likely explanation: this livery will be carried on to 2017 and beyond. No need to get alarmed over every single thing, Tom.
