Video: Campana and Sordo testing for “Monte”
French driver Pierre Campana recently participated in Mini World Rally Team test session in preparation for 80th Rallye Monte Carlo. In order to get familiar with Mini John Cooper Works WRC (yes, this is car’s official full name) Campana took it out to twisty and narrow snow covered roads, which is what crews will probably face during the actual rally.
Testing was also on the menu for Mini’s leading driver Dani Sordo. Spaniard will be leading Mini’s assault in first season of WRC commitment, although Mini’s plans are still unclear. Apparently team will take part in at least 11 rallies this year and FIA recently confirmed Mini’s registration for world rally team status.
Uncertainties regarding future of WRC media coverage and Prodrive’s (british company specialized in WRC team and car management) failure to bring major sponsor allegedly forced Mini’s parent company, BMW, to reconsider it’s involvement in project. However, one this is certain – Mini will attend upcoming Rallye Monte Carlo.
