Latvala: “It wasn’t easy to watch others drive”

Ford’s star Jari-Matti Latvala admits he had hard time watching other drivers race after retiring early in the Rallye Monte Carlo. In his colum in finnish newspaper Ilta Sanomat Latvala said he will try to put Monte failure behind him and focus on upcoming rally in Sweden.

“It was pretty difficult couple of days after our retirement. Not really nice to watch others race. Finally, rally ended and now my programme continues with nicer things. We’re starting our season once again. It’s great to go to Sweden, it’s one of the best and highly specialized rallies. I hope that there would be a lot of snow during the race. Our car is very competitive on gravel and in the snow, so hopes are high”, said Latvala.

With Petter Solberg’s confidence boosted by good performance in Monte Carlo, we’re sure he’ll be closely following Latvala, ready to strike should the Finn run into problems. In any case, Ford’s internal battle might be one of the most interesting ones this season, regardless of strict priorities set by team’s boss Malcolm Wilson.
