Steady run for Sandell

Patrik Sandell remains in eighth place when nine sections are completed in the Swedish Rally. Now only a short evening’s super special inside the race track in Karlstad before the car park for the night.

Sandell’s main opponent in the day has been the Norwegian Henning Solberg. The two have been taking turns taking seconds from each other. It stared out as Sandell could draw the longest straw, until the tires ran out of the Swede in the afternoon’s two final sections.

“It’s been really good all day, until the final two stages when the tires died. The last stretch, I was driving with a rear wheel stud and then we lost way too much time. So it was a bad end”, says Patrik Sandell.

Friday’s routes has gone on Norwegian roads, but on Saturday the cars back on Swedish soil. The Swede has promised not to overcharge the beginning of the rally, but raise the tempo gradually in his WRC-MINI.

“Except the end, it feels fantastic. Fine balance in the car. And it will be great fun to drive on Swedish soil tomorrow, and then I will pull up the pace a notch.”
