50 victories for M-Sport & Ford: “More to come!”

Jari-Matti Latvala’s victory in Sweden marked an impressive milestone for M-Sport and Ford – their 50th victory since the co-operation between two entities began decade and a half ago.

Of course, this occasion had to be properly celebrated and remembered, so M-Sport’s Malcolm Wilson promised team will deliver more Sweden-like performances this year. This number would have been reached sooner but 2010 and 2011 brought only six wins over the course of two full seasons! Ford barely agreed to continue it’s WRC programme this year so M-Sport better start adding victories to it’s tally on regular basis or the 100th one might be very far away.

As Jari-Matti Latvala took his first win of the season at the 60th Rally Sweden this weekend, M-Sport also notched up their 50th WRC victory with Ford. As the company behind Ford’s assault on the WRC since 1997, M-Sport has an extensive rallying pedigree and the company’s impressive feat is testament to the hard work and dedication of all involved over the past 15 years.

From the Ford Escort through to the Focus RS WRC and the current Fiesta RS WRC, M-Sport and Ford’s relationship has been going strong for 15 years. Together, the two companies have taken rally car design and technology to new frontiers. Securing two manufacturers titles, 44 wins with the record-breaking Ford Focus RS WRC and, more recently, a podium clean sweep with the all-new Ford Fiesta RS WRC on its official debut in 2011, the relationship is set to bring further successes in the future.

M-Sport Managing Director, Malcolm Wilson OBE said:
“We have had a working relationship with Ford since 1997 and I am glad to say that it is as strong today as it was all those years ago. This is a fantastic achievement for the whole team at M-Sport and the credit goes to everyone, not just on event, but back at Dovenby Hall too. It is fantastic for us to reach our 50th win with Ford, but we’re not done yet!”
