Dani Sordo and Prodrive to skip Mexico

High costs are presumably behind Prodrive’s decision to skip next month’s third event of the World Rally Championship season in Mexico. Conveniently, this will allow british team to test and prepare host of upgrades recently announced for Mini’s WRC machine.

Dani Sordo and rest of the team will instead travel to Spain to test new components and get them ready for Rally Portugal.

In the meantime, Mini’s colours in Mexico will be defended by uniquely-entered WRC Team Mini Portugal with Armindo Araujo and Paulo Nobre. To reiterate, they’ll be there, but as far as Mini is concerned they could as well skip it as both drivers are not eligible for scoring manufacturer points.

I’m still sort of struggling to understand the concept of this, so apologies for bringing it up again and again.
