Sebastien Loeb still undisputed king of Mexico

Eight-time world champion Sebastien Loeb sealed another victory in Mexico, his sixth win on this event, making him the only driver to win this rally ever since it joined World Championship calendar.

Loeb was not seriously pushed by second placed Mikko Hirvonen with Finn admitting he does not thing it would be possible to chase the Frenchman without taking unacceptably big risks. With 41 seconds deficit to Loeb Hirvonen collects decent amount of points and equally important gets valuable experience and mileage on his first gravel event behind the wheel of Citroën DS3 WRC.

Third place overall and second on SS 23 went to Petter Solberg, only remaining Ford works driver. Norwegian managed to shake off problems from earlier stages and remained in control till the end, bringing points to his and Ford’s account. Furthermore, Solberg decided to push for extra points on the power stage, SS 24. Solberg’s efforts were rewarded by extra points for being fastest on power stage.

“This is rally I enjoy, and rally enjoys me it seems! My team mate ended in second so great result for the Citroën as well”, Sebastien Loeb.

“Great rally, it was pity about the problems we had but we survived to the end and we tried our best. I pushed on power stage, let’s see if it’s enough”, Petter Solberg.

“I’m happy to finish, our first rally on gravel with this car, this is great start to the rest of the season”, Mikko Hirvonen.

“We had a puncture in the worst possible spot in longest stage but we managed to reach the end of stage and bring the car to the end of rally. I’m happy with the results and my driver”, Mads Ostberg.

“I’m very happy, we finished the event and gained valuable experience, so it’s all good”, Ott Tanak.
