Video: Jari-Matti Latvala’s crash in Turini

We all like to have a go at Jari-Matti Latvala – so we call him Crashi-Matti, or Crashvala, but I am pretty sure he is not at all amused by what looks like the worst luck ever. And it happened again in Monte Carlo, just when we thought he will bring the car home in one piece, Turini happened and Polo R WRC spread his internal organs all over the slushy road.

Up until that point, Jari-Matti was keeping it all together rather nicely. Sure, pace was nowhere near that of Sebastien Ogier, but needless to say their level of experience with Polo varies greatly. The road on Turini looks simply awful and it was so easy to make a mistake. Incidentally, Evgeny Novikov lost it on the exact same corner in very similar accident.

Lessons learned and experience gained. Latvala should shrug off this incident as soon as possible and start focusing on Sweden. He needs a solid rally now, but most of all he needs mileage and stages. We’ll see if he can keep Polo away from Swedish forests and on the road.

Oh, by the way, as you probably know by now – each time Jari-Matti crashes, a kitten is adopted. We were kindly informed this is the 2012 collection of kitties. So you see, it’s not all that bad!
