MINI WRC is back, with Jarkko Nikara in Finland

After 2013 Rally Sweden in February, which was Jarkko Nikara’s last outing in a MINI WRC car, the two will join forces once again in the upcoming Rally Finland. Nikara first drove MINI WRC last year in Spain, and managed a fifth place finish. For his home event in Finland, Jarkko is specially motivated – obvious target is another points finish in WRC category, which is one heck of a task, seeing the Rally Finland entry list. Prior to tackling the WRC event, Jarkko and his namesake co-driver Kalliolepo will take part in a round of the Finish national rally championship, the Kouvola Rally.

Prodrive says the Finnish crew will have the latest MINI WRC specification at their disposal, so car will definitely be up for the task.

Jarkko Nikara said: “I have been waiting a long time to get back behind the wheel of the MINI, and to do it on my home event will be extra special. The car is easy to drive, so I do not think it will take me long to find my pace and rhythm. Unlike previous events, I will have more practice time in the car and with the extra power on this fast rally, I think we can really push for a good finish.”

Richard Taylor, Prodrive business development director said: “The whole team here is eager to get back to a full WRC event and to see how the improved MINI performs in the hands of a driver who likes these roads and we know is capable of setting top-ten stage times even in such a strong field.”
