Sordo praises Fiesta, considers Ford for 2013

Spanish press are all over Dani Sordo after Spaniard got a golden opportunity of competing in a proper works team in Rally Argentina. Sordo had a chance to test Ford Fiesta RS WRC car yesterday and more tests are scheduled before team heads off to South America.

Talking to AS.com, Sordo said he is happy with the chance given by Ford and Malcolm Wilson and aims to impress on Argentinian stages, not ruling out a podium finish.

Asked to comment on Fiesta’s characteristics, Sordo said: “Mini is very different, because it moves more. In this sense, Fiesta is more like the Citroën. I also noticed that the engine has a bit more power.”

Sordo is also open for negotiations should Jari-Matti Latvala’s recovery take longer than initially expected. “This is temporary one-off deal at the moment and it only includes Argentina. Anything after that depends on how well Latvala recovers for Greece.”

Ultimately, Sordo would not say no if Ford offered him a permanent works seat for 2013, considering Latvala’s alleged move to Volkswagen. “I have to talk to the team, but of course I would like to continue with them next year.”
