Video: Fascinating onboard; Craig Breen – Martin Scott, Rallye Valais

This video reveals just how hard Craig Breen pushed in Rallye International du Valais, the penultimate round of 2014 European Rally Championship. Special stage number 15 was, as you can see, narrow, twisty and all sorts of nasty, with uphill and downhill sections stitched by those creepy, bumpy dips. Let’s add some crazy cuts, blind crests and a good portion of slippery, and we have a proper rally battlefield on our hands. Stages like this separate men from boys – make ’em narrow and see who will dare to leave his own little comfort zone. Craig did, trying very hard to make up for lost time, and it resulted in some spins. Honestly, I was 100% certain he damaged something on the car in one of those cuts, hence spins, but maybe things like this just happen. In the end, with all the spins, Craig was only 6.9 seconds slower than fastest man through SS15, Kevin Abbring.

With a win in Switzerland, Esapekka Lapi is just few points away from claiming the 2014 ERC title. Final round of the ERC season takes place on Corsica, 6 to 8 October.
