Sainz and Ogier took Polo R WRC out to snow

Recent test session in Norway enabled Volkswagen to gather valuable data in preparation for their full WRC assault next year with Polo R WRC. Test was completed by Dieter Depping and Sebastien Ogier, but that was not the only Polo’s outing in the snow.

Volkswagen’s advisor and former WRC champion and Dakar rally winner Carlos Sainz was joined by Ogier and the rest of the team in Austrian ski resort near Kitzbuehl for a presentation of Volkswagen’s new mass market model Passat Alltrack.

With plenty of snow and Passat’s ambitions to become cheaper alternative to Audi’s Allroad soft-offroader offerings, it’s only natural Volkswagen brought it’s racing machines as well – from historic Beetle and old rally Golf to more recent racers, such as Dakar monster Race Touareg or future WRC hopeful Polo R WRC.

Otherwise standard presentation was made quite spectacular with demonstration runs in Polo and Touareg as well as other former Volkswagen motorsport icons.

It’s nice to see Volkswagen pushing their WRC programme despite the recent troubles that hit WRC and we hope Polo grows up fast and competitive.
