Rerun of rally’s first stage again went to Sebastien Loeb, who only just managed to top the time sheet ahead of Jari-Matti Latvala and Petter Solberg was also just over 1 second behind.
Sordo learned a thing about Monte’s snow banks
Mini posted a photo of damage suffered by Dani Sordo’s Mini John Cooper Works WRC during second stage in Monte. According to Mini, Sordo learned valuable lesson today – Monte’s snow banks are NOT your usual soft banks you can safely lean on, like the ones in Sweden.

Unpredictable character of Monte Carlo stages forces drivers to opt for some unusual tyre combinations. Most crews selected specialized snow tyres for front wheels and slicks for rears, but there are some drivers going for apparently unusual combination of slicks on one side and studded tyres on the other.
Latvala leads after first two stages
First half of first leg is behind us and one thing is certain – 80th Monte will be exciting and intense as ever! Even though crews only tackled two stages so far, it was enough to spring some surprises.
